The Dandy Warhols

This was honestly one of the hardest concerts I've ever shot. I'm 5'1" so I was already at a slight disadvantage with the height of the stage (as were most of us), but then there were the feedback speakers on the stage and the next level up had another row of speakers.

I managed to do ok for the opening act and I took a couple of shots standing in the crowd and it was much easier to get clearer shots from there. The top row of speakers were taken away as they got ready for TDW's, but somewhere while shooting TDW's my camera settings changed from FX to DX - I have no idea how given my fingers can't even reach the button to change it - and suddenly realised the photos were cropped and cutting off heads. This just put me in a huge panic trying to fix it which I couldn't in the dark so made the best of what I could down there. As if that wasn't hard enough, the lighting was just dark blue. Very dark.

Once the 3 songs were over I headed for the toilets where there was some light (I compared the toilets to the ones in Trainspotting. Yeah, you know what I'm talking about!) and fixed the settings. Went back to where my bag was down the front and saw two of the photographers up on the balcony. I went up and found one of the security guys who showed me how to get up there. If I owned a zoom I could have got some pretty good shots but the longest lens I have is an 85mm right now. The view though shows you where we were standing (the row of 'boxes' in front of the sea of heads was about shoulder level) compared to how far back the band were standing.

Dandy Warhols FullDandy Warhols Full Despite all that, I got to sit up on the balcony for the rest of the show and watch the band do their thing!
